Deep Fried Whaaaaat?! Episode 3, in which we deep fry some vegetables.
In this series we are dedicated to deep frying every food we can find. Do you have a suggestion for an episode? Let us know!

Turns out vegetables don't deep fry particularly well. Who knew? We also totally messed up the one sure bet, the onion. Might have to revisit that one.
In order we did:
baby carrots
asparagus
radish
brussel sprout
broccoli
onion

    Why does everybody hate Brussel Sprouts?! I love those but they are hard to
    find… Boiled or steamed until soft and buttery then melt some butter onto
    them…. YUM!

      +Defensive Wounds A few reasons.
      When you’re younger your sensitivity to bitter is stronger. People tend to
      have sprouts for the first time when they are young. In addition, you
      either need a little skill or a lot of bacon to cook good sprouts. The
      first sprouts you eat tend to lack in one of these areas.
      Once people try something and dislike it there’s very little chance they’ll
      try it again. Thus a lot of people think they hate brussel sprouts, even
      though they’re just delicious tiny cabbages. – HP

    You idiots were meant to parboil these vegetables first before dipping them
    in batter and frying. No wonder it didn’t work.

      +Timothy Kwoh That’s true! Especially the broccoli . That’s why I
      recommended they try deep fried mushrooms and zucchini because they don’t
      have to do anything extra lol

    Fried broccoli is the best! I make it with fried calamari, and some red
    peppers. Make sure to leave it in a little bit longer to cook through.

    If you pre-cooked some of the veggies and then deep fried them they
    probably wouldn’t be so bad, especially with a dip or something

      +marcel marechal THat’s what I was thinking about some of the veggies. They
      would be much better pre cooked as that would help release some of the
      natural sweetness in them.
