How To Make Onion Rings

In a bowl, combine 1 tsp of cornstarch, 1/2 tsp of baking soda, 1/2 cup of flour, 2 tsps of salt, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, 1/2 tsp of pepper, and 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper then stir in well

In another bowl combine 2 eggs with 3 tbs of milk and 3 squirts of hot sauce then stir

Place breadcrumbs (of your choice) in a pan or dish

Cut your onions into onion shapes [as shown in video]

Place in a bowl of water and allow them to sit for 20 mins to loosen clear skin

Pull of skin and rinse

Coat wet onions in seasoned flour, shake then dip into egg wash, allow the excess egg to drip off the onions and the coat well with panko breadcrumbs….. then dip them back into the egg wash, let excess egg wash drip off and then panko breadcrumbs again, then into italian breadcrumbs

(You can sit the coated onion rings in the freezer for 30 mins – 1 hour if you want to make sure the breadcrumbs stick

Place a pot over medium high heat

Add 3 cups of oil

Fry onion rings for about 30 to 45 secs on each side and sit on a paper towel

    Thanks so much for this excellent recipe! Here’s a tip: before using the
    bread crumbs, put them into a food processor and chop them until they
    become a powder. They will stick to the onion rings much better.
