Thanks for your question, Ushould Seewhatikeep. Both buttermilk and eggs
may be used to hold the seasoned flour mixture onto the chicken pieces.
It’s really a cook’s preference about which to use–and there are lots of
opinions on which is best! Hope you give the recipe a try. Let us know how
    your chicken turns out.

  2. Chanel Yusooncho says:

Can we use just milk instead please reply I really dont know :-)

    • Allrecipes says:

You can change milk to buttermilk by adding 1 teaspoon of vinegar to 1 cup
of milk, and then letting it sit 5 to 10 minutes so it thickens a little
bit, Chanel Yusooncho. This will be more flavorful than just using regular
      milk.

  3. Fokhor Uddin says:

    We can also use milk

I marinate my chicken in flavored buttermilk for at least 12 hours.
Add franks hot sauce, buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, and some
lawery seasoning salt to buttermilk. Mix it well and add chicken making
sure all is covered. Leave in fridge at least 8 hours. Take chicken out of
buttermilk and wash it off with cold water, then dry with paper towel, as
dry as you can get it. Dust chicken lightly with salt and let it air dry
30min. Next coat chicken with a thin coating of shifted flour, cornstarch,
and baking powder, three cups flour 1/3 cup starch, 2 tbsp bpowder. The
dryer the chicken before this coating the better. Pat off excess coating.
Next add chicken to a eggwash, then into some flavored flour, unshifted,
add paprika , black pepper, lawreys seasoning salt and HABENERO pepper
powder to flour. Coat well and let sit until pasty texture at least an
hour. Make sure chicken is at room temp then Fry as normal and do NOT use
paper towels on finished chicken, use wire rack. Enjoy popeys cloned
    chicken.

  9. Fokhor Uddin says:

    What is paprika

    • Allrecipes says:

Excellent question, Fokhor Uddin. “Paprika” is a powder made by grinding
aromatic sweet red peppers pods. The flavor ranges from mild to hot, and
paprika is used as both a garnish sprinkled on top of foods to add color
and eye appeal, and an ingredient used to flavor foods. The color may range
from bright orange-red to a deep red. Paprika can come from Spain, South
America, California and Hungary. Many people believe the best comes from
      Hungary.

Adding onion powder and garlic powder to the flour will enhance the taste!

  11. angelo karl canaleta says:

    Can i use paper towel?

    • Allrecipes says:

Do you want to use the paper towels to cover the chicken pieces when
they’re sitting on the baking sheet while the batter sets, angelo karl
canaleta? This will be fine. The idea is to protect the batter until the
coating “hardens” slightly and becomes “paste-like” so it will stay on
while cooking. Here’s a link to the original recipe so you may review the
      instructions: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/8805/crispy-fried-chicken/
