I tried making DimSim79's method of fried ice cream… I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. If you wanna see the results check out this video. Sorry my video quality is so crappy, I recorded with my digital camera :/

I just started a food blog. Right now there is a recipe for creme brulee 🙂 enjoy!

Ingredients and Utensils:
ice cream (any kind)
bread crumbs (preferably the American kind)
coconut flakes (or if you can find dessicated coconut use that)
3 egg whites
3 bowls
oil (I used canola oil)
ice cream scooper (or spoon)
saran wrap (plastic wrap)
a pan/pot high enough to fry your ice cream balls
a small serving plate

Also, next time I will use tempura batter and see how it stand up to this method. I think using tempura batter will give it more of a restaurant style taste, but it will be more difficult.

Thanks for watching and hope you like it!
If you have any questions please feel free to ask 😀

Keep a bowl of water handy to dip your ice cream scoop in… makes it work
much easier, and can you leave your husband, and marry me…. would love to
meet a woman that cleans up after herself! Hahahaha…. Looks yummy… Was
a big hit at the Texas State Fair a few years back…

It doesn’t have to be a perfect ball and your tip is useable but not to
make it too hot or it will melt the ice cream quicker. Also you should be
able to make virtually the perfect ball like in the ice cream shop, as they
don’t handle it to make it nice and round, plus the more handling of it the
faster it melts, so u really only want to crumb it, egg wash it, crumb it,
then leave it in freezer for 3 or 4 hours. then crumb egg wash crumb. then
another 3 or 4 hours, then cook it.

I was going to say deep fryer too but anyways next time unfortunately to
help get even coloring you need to virtually coat the whole ball in oil so
u would need more for that, and as you already stated u want your oil to be
hot enough b4 using it s if it isn’t the crumbed foods go soggy and retain
more oil in them, thus making you eat more oil as you eat the food

very nice! we had this after dinner last night, using the coconut mix and a
lil caramel topping..yumo! a once a yr thing me thinks lol

  13. Teddy says:

A tip to getting that perfect ball is to let the ice cream scoop run under
some hot water before you use it. The moisture and heat help it cut through
smoothly like a hot knife through butter.
