According to Deronda…these are the "BEST" homemade "ONION RINGS" you'll ever make. Recipe below…
CRISPY FRIED ONION RINGS
1 pound onions
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons corn starch
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
1 cup buttermilk
oil for frying
1. Cut onions into 1/2 inch slices and separate into rings.
2. With a whisk blend all dry ingredients together. Whisk in buttermilk…add more liquid if the batter is too thick.
3. Pour oil to a depth of 2-inches into a heavy sauce/frying pan; heat oil to 375 degrees…medium low heat.
4, Dip onion rings into batter. Fry, in batches 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown, turning ONLY once.
Drain on paper towels. Serve within 15 minutes!!
ENJOY!!!

Could I subtitute cornstarch for corn flour?
I made these tonight! They are my first ones I’ve made homemade. I just
can’t stand paying so much for onion rings at the store. They were so good.
I didn’t have buttermilk but the 2% worked just fine I think. Thanks for
sharing.
