BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN

How To Make Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Clean your chicken

Sit your chicken pieces in a big bowl. Add 2 tbs of Salt, 2 tbs of Apple Cider Vinegar, and cover chicken with water and allow the chicken to soak in the Salt/water/vinegar solution for 30 mins – 1 hr. Afterwards, rinse your chicken well

Seasoning the chicken

Season your chicken with 1 tsp Seasoning Salt, 1 tsp Adobo Season, 1/2 tsp Onion Powder, 1/2 tsp Black Pepper, 1 tsp Oregano Season, 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper, and 1/4 Paprika season

Marinate In Buttermilk

In a big bowl add 3 cups of buttermilk. Add 2 tbs of Parsley Flakes, 1 tbs of Minced Garlic, and 7-10 squirts of Hot sauce. Stir in well. Place seasoned chicken in the buttermilk and cover with a top. Let the chicken soak in the buttermilk mix for 8 to 12 hrs

Coating

Sit your buttermilk chicken on a plate and let the excess buttermilk drain off the chicken. Season 1 cup of flour with 1/2 tsp of seasoning salt and 1/2 tsp of onion powder. Coat the chicken with flour, shake off excess flour and allow the flour coated chicken to sit for 20 minutes

Deep Frying

Meanwhile, pre heat your oil. Place lots of oil in a big pot and place over medium heat. Allow heat to heat up for 5 minutes.

Add your flour coated chicken pieces to the hot oil and deep fry the buttermilk chicken until it floats to the top (It floating to the top indicates that it's done) or for 15 minutes

Enjoy

I bought 2 cans of coconut milk. I dont know what to make with it. Can you
do a easy meal using it

    • Mercurial Beef says:

You ever try soaking your chicken in pickle juice. After you done with your
jar of pickles hold on to the juice and soak your chicken for about a day
before hand. No lie it makes it so good and tender. I still do the butter
milk after wards as well. Just adds another layer of favor thats really
      tasty.

    • pinkpastelhearts says:

It is sad to see people waste so much of there time giving such negative
reviews. Especially, when they gained something useful out of it. How do
you insult someone using horrible grammar and foul language. The brother is
passionate about his cooking. If you don’t like his choice of words, there
are plenty of other sites and blogs that will give you what you need.
PhillyBoyJay keep those great recipes coming. I wish you all the best in
    this New Year.

How can you reuse your buttermilk recipe because it had raw chicken in it.
Wouldn’t you get botulism? I think your recipe looks yummy but I would be
afraid to reuse the buttermilk mixture. Thanks for showing how you do it.

    • paconot says:

botulism comes from spoiled can goods. Maybe you mean salmonella?

    • Neshia Nesh says:

You can reuse the marinade bc it’s raw on raw. You cook your meats so it
won’t be contaminated. Also keep in mind, alot of black people especially
in the south keep their flour. We reuse. We put it in a bag and put in
fridge so you don’t have to make more. I haven’t been sick yet. You get
salmonella from raw chicken, but if your food is cleaned properly and
cooked through you will be salmonella free. Just thought to give you some
insight on southern style cooking. But if you not comfortable do what you
feel is right, I’m not wasting my money bc I don’t use buttermilk on
      nothing else.

    • bepos1luv ok says:

I totally agree.. food poisoning & salmonella it’s too risky. You should
      always throw out raw marinades.
